Spend the day drinking and riding! The closer you are to St Charles the more amenities there are(water fountains, bike tools, wine).

This site offers direct access to the Katy Trail, which is an old recovered railroad that has been converted to a hiking and biking trail. The trail stretches from Clinton Missouri to Machens Missouri. From start to finish you will complete about 250 miles. Notable places with reach of the trail or directly off the trail are as listed: Pilot Grove, Booneville, Rocheport, Hartsburg, Jefferson City, Hermann, Marthasville, Saint Charles. Make for a great multi day ride with available camping or bed and breakfast stops along the way. I Suggest Spring or fall trips for that. The trail is generally well maintained road bike make for a faster trip but I would suggest a sturdy set of tires. Many great views along the way as it often parallels the Missouri river.

One of the better trailheads. Fyi as of Aug 2017 the air pump is broken.

Lit bathrooms, plenty of parking, water fountain, covered pavilion, and a bench with some historical facts and information.

The Jefferson City access offers a pavilion with benches, water, air and bike tools, and outhouse facilities. Water is turned off in the winter. No motorized vehicles are allowed on the trail and you may run into a park ranger along the way. You also need special permission to use the trail at night.

We have enjoyed the Jefferson City North Katy Trail soooo much in the past couple of summers. The facility is amazing with a clean (as clean as state park bathrooms can be) bathroom, recycling bins, amazing maps of the trail with a very cool bench to sit and rest. It also has a bike repair station with tools to tune up while you are on a long ride. There is an air pump, water fountain, and large picnic area with a roof. There is a lot of parking and the whole thing is surrounded by nature and the view of Highway 63 is something you don't see everyday. It's only 3 miles on your bike toward town to see the bridge and river on the Greenway path. If you go either direction on the trail itself you can ride just a few miles and see historical markers, the Missouri River, wide gorgeous views of fields, farms, and the sky seems endless. Highly recommended!
